DCCL Division One

New Mills 137ao v Dove Holes 216/6 dec

Dove Holes win by 79 runs

Dove travelled to New Mills with the alarm clocks set for the early start.

Dove won the toss and elected to bat but were soon in trouble when Baggy and Eddie fell early. The skipper looked well until he was caught very well in the gully.

From here Webby and Forder batted very well putting on 81 to take the score to 117 before webby fell for 39. Turner joined forder at the crease with these 2 putting on a quick 78 before Forder fell superbly run out for a very well played 83.

Turner then fell to leave gilly and Bren to see us to maximum batting points before Dove declared with weather about.

Gillly and Critch opened up for dove with them picking up a wicket a piece quickly. Holmes and kilner put on a good partnership before Holmes fell to a good run out by Baggy. Kilner went soon after. A stubborn partnership between Hadfield and Procter then frustrated Dove who didn’t help themselves in the field. The ball was chucked around until golden arm Bren finally got the breakthrough bowling hadfield and then took another in the over.

From here on Dove picked up regular wickets and bowled New Mills out for 137 with Critch picking up 4-19.

Motm sponsored by St Moritz was Tom Forder

Second Team

DCCL Division Two

Dove Holes 244/3 v Hollingworth 188ao

Dove Holes win by 56 runs

After the previous weeks battering Dove h 2s returned to the Hallsteads arena to take on Hollingworth 1s. Skipper Hilly lost the toss and after last weeks result Dove were placed into bat. Winning the toss and choosing to bowl was bold as Hollingworth didn’t realise the absolute road that the grounds staff had produced. A Brilliant opening stand of 104 between Keith and Scow put dove on the front foot straight away before the latter departed for a good 38. Kieth fell soon after for an excellent 60 meaning Hawko and Roy were at the crease. These two cracked on quickly with the tower of power smashing some huge blows dispatching anything wide or short and leaving a few broken tiles on the estate. Roy joined in with 2 6’s before getting LB’ed for an excellent 44. Egg got into the fray and added some some late ‘impetus’ to the inning as Dove reached a tremendous 244-3. An exceptional 81 not out from just 47 balls for the one and only Rob Hawkes

Hollingworths reply didn’t start too well as Bundy struck with his first ball dismissing Morris with a good grab at gulley from Wayne. Corey picked up the next two wickets reducing the visitors to 26-3. Dove assumed the game was over before Belfield arrived at the crease with the intention of breaking more roof tiles than Hawko. What followed was an incredible display of power hitting as anything and everything was dispatched. Dove picked up wickets with two more for Cory and One for big John but the danger man still remained. Belfield eventually fell to a good grab from Hawko falling for an incredible 129. Hilly and John picked up the last 3 wickets as hollingworth were all out for 188.

Dove triumph thanks to an excellent display with the Bat. The Bulls head Monyash man of the Match was Rob Hawkes

Sunday

Bissenden Cup Semi Final

Dove Holes 150/4 v Tintwistle 149/6

Dove Holes win by 6 wickets

Dove entertained Tintwistle in the Bissenden Cup Semi Final. Tint won the toss and decided to bat.

Critch and Gilly opened with Gilly trapping the oversea in front of all 3 with the 2nd ball of the innings. Tint moved the score onto 18 before Critch nicked off Weston with Gem taking a superb low catch. Gilly then had Robinson caught in the gully by Eddie to leave tint 28-3.

Mayne and Davies put on 25 before Wata got in on the act with Gem taking another good catch at slip. Moss soon followed again well caught by Gem - this time off Carter.

From here in Davies and Scott batted very sensibly to steady the ship and then accelerating in the last 10. They put on 92 before Davies fell off the last ball of the innings for a well played 74. Scott 42no with Tint finishing on 149-6. A lot more than what they looked like getting at one stage but on a good Dove deck we felt this was below par at half time.

DJ and Baggy opened up and got the chase off to a superb start putting on 42 before DJ fell. Eddie joined Baggy at the crease and these 2 put on 26 before Baggy went for 24 to leave dove 68-2.

Forder joined Eddie with these 2 putting on 25 before Robinson got one to nip back to bowl forder. Eddie then went for 35 with the score on 108.

From here skipper Grego and Gilly took Dove home with the skipper finishing 32no.

A superb chase and a real team effort with bat and ball to take Dove to their 4th Bissenden cup final in 4 years. To be played at Hayfield on the 11th August.
