Dinting 113ao v Dove Holes 305/6

Dove Holes win by 200 runs

Dove Holes made the journey to Dinting just in time via Magaluf, Newcastle and Liverpool. Grego won the toss and we had a bat.

Gilly and Bags opened again and put on a great century partnership in quick time. Punishing anything loose and running well between the wickets. They both fell in quick succession to leave DJ and Chez at the crease.

These 2 batted superbly putting on 127- Chez with 64 and DJ 72. Forder replaced Chez with 30 and Dove brought up the 300 with the only 6 of the innings with DJ getting the Rob Jones sweep out.

Gilly and Cock opened the bowling with Gilly picking up 4 quick wickets to put the game beyond doubt. The highlight a 1 handed diving catch from Forder.

The young Dinting lads then put on a few but Dove took regular wickets with Dinting finishing on 112. Cock picked up 3, Gem and the skipper 1 a piece a run out from bags.

Man of the match for his all round display, sponsored by Jon and Shev was Dan Gilbride.

Second Team - Saturday

DCCL Division Two

Dove Holes 111ao v Hollingworth 104ao

Dove Holes win by 7 runs

Dove holes 2s took on Hollingworth 1s on Saturday in a game of the year candidate. Overcast conditions and a few light showers to start the game with Skipper Gregory losing the toss and dove being put into Bat.

More of the same from dove with the bat as they continue to struggle to score. Dove lost wickets early and often before overseas pro Jonty ‘The Saudi prince’ Norton came into the game hitting 25 not out including some big sixes and dragged dove holes to 111 all out.

With a poor total posted it looked like Dove 2s would slump to a third defeat in a row however Moty had a bowling masterplan. Taking the pace off the ball early opening with himself and wily Veteran Nathan ‘Poretti arm’ moss proved a great decision as dove picked up early wickets with some great Boundary catches from Craig ‘Rifle’Dawson and Ted Johnson putting dove holes firmly in contention to win the game.

Young Roy bowled a brilliant tight 10 over spell that deserved more that the 1 wicket he earned. The Hollingworth batting lineup stuck around and at 86-5 looked like they would comfortably win the game. Ted Johnson came on at the top end picking up 3-7 off 6 overs including 2 wickets in 2 balls to flip the game on its head before Brock lesnar lookalike Jonty Norton collected 2 wickets in 2 overs including Mossy taking a diving catch to win the game. A phenomenal Team Performance from all as the 2s win by 7 runs.

Sunday

Hawke Trophy

Woodley 114/4 v Dove Holes 113ao

Woodley win by 6 wickets

Woodley 1s/2s beat Dove holes 2s by 6 wickets

The 2s travelled to woodley for a Hawke trophy replay on Sunday to take on Woodley 2s. After travelling to woodley the previous Sunday and posting a total of 160 before rain ultimately cancelled the game Dove looked to post a similar score as Skipper Gregory lost the toss and dove were put into bat.

Dove started well as openers Wayne Collins and Mark Hill played well before Hill was run out. Dove continued to bat well before Collins fell leaving dove in a good position at 71-2. After a fall of quick fall of wickets Dove didn’t look in good nick skipper Gregory pick of the bunch scoring 18 as Fell to 113 all out.

Dove started their reply well as Cory Flint picked up an early wicket before both sides came off for the first time for rain. When dove went back they started well again with a run out from Nathan Moss and another wicket for Flint dove had the hosts 35-5 and it looked like game on.

First team Regulars Cramwell and Ince batted well before Johnson bowled Cramwell restoring some hope of salvaging a result. Woodley batted well and after a few dropped chances Knocked the score off without further loss.

A good effort from the 2s on a rainy Father’s Day afternoon but ultimately came up short as they exit the Hawke Trophy.

The 2’s return to action Next Saturday when they face league leaders stalybridge away in hope to build on Saturdays win.
