Match Report | Dove Double Double



Great weekend for both the First & Second Teams who won League Games on Saturday & Cup Ties on Sunday.


The First Team travelled to Whaley Bridge in the league on Saturday, won the toss & elected to bat. Top order contributions from Dan Gilbride 42 Mark Vernon 34 and Tom Forder 39 saw Dove post 204-7. In reply, Dove bowled excellently reducing the hosts to 65 all out, Critch with an impressive 6-17. Dove 20 points.


The Second Team hosted Old Glossop on Saturday in a low scoring game. Dove bowled the visitors out for 95. In reply Dove stuttered to the target losing 8 wickets.


On Sunday the First Team made the treck to Newton in the Quarter Final of the Bissenden Cup. Skipper Gregory won the toss and backed his bowlers to carry on Saturdays form and they delivered, Newton all out for 68. All bowlers picking up wickets but Cory Flint led the way with 4-6. In reply Tom Forder hit 37 not out as the target was reached for the loss of just one wicket - Dove into the Semi Finals for the second year running.


On Sunday the Second Team hosted Mottram in the Semi Final of the Hawke Trophy. The visitors won the toss and inserted Dove who went on to post an impressive 220-6, all batsmen contributed by Reece Johnson 59 and Skipper Hawkes 42 led the way. In reply Dove bowlers kept their nerve and fielders caught their catches as Mottram were reduced to 147 all out. Jonty Norton 3-35 and Kieran Collins 3-3 pick of the bowlers. Dove through to the Hawke Trophy Final!!


Dove will play Newton in the Hawke Trophy Final which will be played at Pott Shrigley on Sunday the 4th of August.
