Bissenden Cup

Broadbottom 100ao v Dove Holes 105-1

Dove Holes win by 9 wickets

2021 Bissenden Cup winners Dove Holes travelled to 2021 Division One Champions Broadbottom in the first round of the Bissenden Cup.


Skipper Gregory lost the toss and Dove were in the field on a thankfully still and warm day.


Dove got off to the perfect start when Dan Gilbride (3-19) dismissed Broady Skipper Walsh with the first ball of the innings.

Dove picked up regular wickets reducing the hosts to 45-5. Senior Pro Dave Cartledge (3-18) then mopped up the tail as Broadbottom were all out for 100 in under 28 overs.


In reply openers Dan Gilbride 55 and Dan Jones 33 not out saw the visitors reach the target inside 17 overs for the loss of one wicket.


Hawke Trophy

Dove Holes 140/7 v Pott Shrigley 138/8

Dove Holes win by 3 wickets


Visitors Pott Shrigley won the toss and batted first in the first round of the Hawke Trophy, the final of which will be held at Dove Holes.


Dove picked up a few early wickets but the visitors batted the full 40 overs finishing on 138/8. Joe Gregory pick of the bowlers 3-13.

In a tense reply Dove knew if they batted the 40 overs they would win the game but despite an excellent 41 from Rob Hawkes and 26 from Paul Scowen Dove lost regular wickets. With 7 wickets down sensible knocks from Jonty Norton (18 not out) and Wayne Collins (12 not out) saw Dove home with 22 balls spare.

Sunday League

Marple & Compstall 134 v Dove Holes 135/9

Dove win by 1 wicket


Dove travelled to Compstall to face Marple & Compstall 4th team for the first 3rd Team fixture in Dove Holes history.


Unsurprisingly skipper Jones won the toss and elected to field.


All 8 bowlers were impressive and in spells so was the fielding! Ted Johnson picked up 3 wickets, Nathan Moss 2 wickets and Chris Hill 1 wicket as the hosts hit 134.

In a thrilling reply Dove opener Keegan Ridgeway hit an excellent 37 and Mark Vernon 32 not out as Dove reached the target in the last over with 9 wickets down.

Depending on the recovery of several team members the 3rd team is in action again on Sunday 15th May at home to New Mills.
