Old Glossop 150ao v Dove Holes 153/7
Dove Holes win by 3 wickets
Dove travelled to Old Glossop in a top of the table clash. OG won the toss and decided to bat on what started as a warm summers day.
Dove got off to a great start reducing OG to 12-3 with Critch bowling Froggett with his first ball. Gilly then trapped Sagar LBW before he produced a trimmer to bowl Kalavugunta 2nd ball. Joy threatened to counter attack before Gilly got one to creep through and bowl him with the score on 35.
Kean and Mcgrail then batted sensibly for a partnership of 26 before the oversea chipped one to the skipper with Gilly picking up his 4th. From here OG added another 20 before Gilly picked up his 5th- Mcgrail snicking off to DJ. Gilly finishing with a superb spell of 5-53 off his 12. From 81-6 OG could’ve capitulated but recovered well batting very sensibly. They put on 3 partnerships of 20 ish but Dove kept picking up the wickets to stop them getting away with Wata bowling a superb spell of 2-23 from his 12, Critch picking up another and Gem finishing things off sneaking one into leg stump with OG finishing on 150.
Both team content at half time- Dove would’ve took 150 at the start but OG happy with the recovery from 81-6.
The chase got off to a frantic start with quick boundaries but Adderley struck 3 times removing Hally, Eddie and DJ to leave Dove 22-3. From here skipper Gregory and Forder put on a superb partneship of 75. Absorbing the pressure and then punishing anythign loose. Forder fell with the score on 98 with Gilly coming to the crease. These to put on 21 and looked to be crusing before a mix up resulted in the skipper beign run out for an estimated 60-70.
This left Dove on 119-5 needed 32 to win. Gilly & Gem took the score to 129 before Gilly nicked off. Baggy then hit a boundary before he also nicked off with the score on 134. 18 needed with Gem & Wata at the crease.
These two took the positive approach to see Dove over the line- with Gem finishing 18no with Wata finishing things off with a drive through the offside.
A big win for Dove with the MOTM sponsored by Damien Moss skipper Gregory - the standout batter of the day.
