Dinting 101ao v Dove Holes 241/5

Dove Holes win by 140 runs

Dove made the travel over the hills to Dinting on the nicest day of the cricketing year so far. Surprisingly Grego called correctly and Dove had a bat.

Gilly and Gem opened and got Dove off to a bright start putting 33 on for the first wicket before Gilly fell caught and bowled by Nixon. Eddie and Gem added 20 before both fell in quick succession - Gem for a well played 35.

Grego threatened with a 6 before he fell trying to repeat the act. Forder and Chez then steadied things with both looking good before Chez snicked off with the score on 98-5.

This brought Turner to the crease after weeks of moaning about lack of batting time and the weather. The hot weather certainly brought the best out of the warm blooded Turner as he and Forder went about the repair job in sensible fashion. Picking up singles in the gaps and punishing anything loose. These 2 took Dove to 150 with 7 overs left and then decided it was go time. They put on 91 in these 7 overs through hard running and clean hitting. Forder reaching 86 with 3 balls remaining. He then went 4,4,6 to bring up a magnificent ton off 83 balls and take Dove to 241-5. Turner finishing 56no at a run a ball- a great partnership of 143.

In reply Nixon started all guns blazing taking 14 off the first over. Critch struck in his first over though removing George. Nixon continued to counter attack before Critch struck again lbw with Nixon going for a quick fire 38. In the same over Critch picked up Townsend to leave dinting 56-3.

Critch picked up his 4th caught and bowled before water and Carter were introduced. These 2 kept things tight as ever - Dan picking ending up with 4 and Carter 2fer- one of them a great grab from Gem in the deep to remove Lythgoe.

Dove bowling Dinting out for 101. A big margin of victory that looked in doubt before the great rescue partnership from Forder and Turner.

MOTM sponsored by L.D & A funeral services was Tom Forder

Dove Holes 85ao v Buxworth 161ao

Buxworth win 76 runs

Dove holes 2 welcomed Buggy 1s to Hallsteads on Saturday on what turned out to be the nicest day of the Year. Hilly lost the toss and Dove were asked to bowl. Cory struck third ball nicking one of the openers with the third ball. Reynolds and McCormack batted well putting on 64 before the latter was dismissed LBW by Greeny. Bundy was then bought into the attack picking up the Wickets of Lister and Reynolds in back to back overs being backed up by tight bowling from Roy. Roy bowled very well picking up three wickets of his own with Johnson, Greeny and Cory picking up 1 each to restrict Buggy to 161.

Kier Coll got a good start before being bowled and wickets fell regularly from there. Roy stuck around for 14 until he picked out a fielder. Dawse and Greeny batted well together to at least make it respectable as Dove were all out for 84.

Rough day at the office for the twos but they go again next week.

The Queens at Dove man of the match was Kian Vernon
