Forder 32no and Gilly 18 added late impetus to the innings with dove finishing 231-5.

In reply Whaley had no answer to the superb bowling of Gilly, Critch and Wata with Gilly getting 5 and crich and wata 2 a piece.

Second Team

DCCL Division Two

Dove Holes 100ao v Birch Vale 104/6

Birch Vale win 4 wickets

Dove 2s welcomed a strong Birch Vale 1s to hallsteads which looked tremendous. Birch won the toss and elected to bowl unsurprisingly after the weeks weather and were bolstered by having 2 strong opening bowlers available who bowled tight lines and lengths moving the ball around cleverly.

Doves top order struggled to handle Birchs attack lead by Trueman who bowled his full allocation on the reel. Dove were 100 ao with skipper Gregory accounting for the bulk of the runs with 54*.

If Dove bowled well the target was defendible. It took veteran Hill a over to get into his work but hit his straps taking 2 of the top order with him. Green hit his stride immediately with a probing spell as Birch were 30-3. Bannister put bat to ball for a crucial 40 but was dismissed to a superb catch from the athletic Moss as Kian Vernons spin threatened to turn the game Doves way with 3 quick wickets however the target proved to be 30 light as Trueman got Birch over the line 6 down.
