Dove Holes 100/8 v Old Glossop 99ao

Dove Holes win by 2 wickets

Return of the Wats part 2

Dove hosted Old Glossop on a glorious day at Hallsteads. As ever Dove lost the toss and OG decided to have a bat.

Gilly opened up with a terrific first over nicking off Froggatt with the last ball of the over. Sagar followed lbw to gilly in what was a superb spell of bowling. This left OG 19-2. The oversea looked in good order and put on 24 before Thorley fell LBW to Wats. Wats then produced one of many Jaffa’s of the day to clean up the oversea with OG 45-4. Carter induced a leading edge soon after with arshad back In the shed without troubling the scorers.

Wats produced another snorter to bowl the Sri Lankan. Then he got Kay and lane to leave OG in all sorts of trouble at 60-8. Adderley and whitehouse and then had a good partnership before wats struck again and then hally ran out whitehouse with OG on 99. Wats finishing 5-23.

Dj and an injured hally opened up and hally was soon back in the shed bowled by lane.

Dj and Eddie then put on a good partnership of 38 before Dj was bowled by a short one that kept a bit low from Adderly. Disaster then struck as Adderly took 3 in an over with forder, Grego and Gilly all gone to leave dove 42-5. Baggy and Eddie put on 21 before baggy fell and Gem went for 6 soon after with dove still

Needing 27 with 3 wickets in the shed.

Eddie and Wata put on a patient 10 before Eddie got one that didn’t bounce as he fell for a well played 39. With 17 to win and 2 wickets left wata took the aggressive option hitting a 4 and a 6 off the next over.

Carter played out a maiden then with 4 to win wata struck the winning blow off the first ball of the next over.

Motm sponsored by DGP plumbing, heating and bathrooms was Dan Waterhouse.

Dove move to 3 out of 3 without being at their best- next up is Whaley away next week.

Second Team

DCCL Division Two

Old Glossop 206/7 v Dove Holes 204/8

Old Glossop win by 3 wickets

Dove 2s travelled to Old Glossop on a scorching afternoon. The skipper wonthe toss and elected to bat first.

Openers Jones and KC got dove off to a flying start before the latter went for a 2 that not even a prime Linford Christie would've managed, leaving the crease with a very well scored 36.

The dove middle order continued to pile on the runs with Kieran Jones being the solid foundation scoring a magnificent 67 and good contributions from Egg and both Vernons saw them get to 204ao after the allocated 45 overs.

Old Glossops opening batsmen started off just as quickly with a high scoring partnership of 94. Doves attack continued to struggle as the hosts raced on to 148. The Dove captain had to revert to plan B with Ridgway taking the gloves off after 20 overs and finding a breakthrough to get dove back into the game.

With a wicket from Jones and Skipper Gregory, the wicket keeper Ridgway continued to plug away and finished with 5 wickets from 10 overs.

Unfortunately this was not enough to lead the 2s to victory as the home side knocked the target off for the loss of 7 wickets.

Doves MOTM sponsored by David Moore was Keegan Ridgway.

The 2nds go again next week when they host Birch Vale 1sts at the Hallsteads Arena.
