Dove Holes 238/8 v Hayfield 184ao
Dove Holes win by 54 runs
Dove Holes hosted Hayfield on another scorcher of a day at Hallsteads. Grego won the toss and had a bat.
Things didn’t go to plan though as Dove found themselves 26-4 early doors. Harry Wyatt taking the top 3 and Spencer nicking Forder off. This left the skipper and Eddie at the crease who decided to take the positive approach. They put on 98 in quick fire time before Eddie picked out deep extra cover for 45. Hally and Grego put on another 20 before Happy was unluckily run out with Adamson getting a finger on one that Grego smashed back.
Jack then had good partnerships with Gem and Carter as the runs kept flowing. Jack fell for a brilliant 92 including a smashed windscreen as dove finished on 238-8.
Hayfield came out all guns blazing and after 15 overs were 100-1 with the only success coming from Crich who dismissed sharp. After stern words from the skipper at drinks Dove switched on as the spin twins Carter and Gem picked up 3 quick wickets.
This left Woody and Russ at the crease with Dove knowing this was where the game was going to be won. Gem kept being brave after Woody tucked into a few but was rewarded with the wicket as Woody fell for a brilliant 90.
After the cup the other week dove knew nothing was won while Evans was at the crease. Dove attacked the other end though with Carter picking up a quick 2, Gem 1 and Eddie a run out.
The final wicket fell with Spencer skying one to the skipper off crich with Evans left stranded. Carter with great figures of 3-35 and Gem 4-75. A hard fought win against a very dangerous Hayfield side.

Stalybridge 102/4 Dove Holes 100ao
Stalybridge win by 6 wickets
On a beautiful day for cricket, Dove 2s travelled to league leaders Stalybridge in good spirits after their hard fought victory last week.
Skipper Gregory won the toss and batted first with openers KC and Hilly getting off to a good start. Doves batting lineup was strong but nobody really seemed to get going with a few decent knocks from Ted and Kieren they found themselves struggling and all out for just 100 runs.
Dove started brightly with the ball with a couple of early wickets keeping the home side to 26-2. Openers Burgess and Gregory with one wicket a piece. Some ropey fielding from the away side along with stalys number 5 batting very well meant that the total was just not enough to defend with the runs being knocked off for just 4 wickets.
The 2s look to go again next week as they face Buxworth at the hallsteads arena.
Sunday Team
Dove Holes 137/3 v Broadbottom 131/7
Dove Holes win by 7 wickets
On sunday afternoon, the ever entertaining 3rd team hosted Broadbottom on another fantastically prepared wicket by the consistent Gibbo.
Captain Ridgway lost the toss and Broadbottom decided to have a bat. Openers Ted 'Collins' Johnson and Mossy bowled tight to get dove on the front foot early before the wickets were spread among the rest including a great spell of 1-11 by the 'All rounder' skipper and 2 wickets from the piano man himself Tom Broadley to keep broady to 131-7 after 35 overs.
In reply, opening batsmen Tommy Green and Dawse started well before the run chase was kept going with a great partnership between Keegan and young Roy Vernon who cemented himself at the crease for yet another red inker. Some poor running from the skipper left him stranded in the middle and run out for a well earned 27.
The main man Ted then came in and batted well with Roy to smash the winning runs at the end with a great 32 not out, adding to his colossal amount of 3rd team runs this season.
Another great game played in fabulous spirits. Good luck to Broady in their next game who have some very talented young players supported by some great senior cricketers!
