Tintwistle 204/9 v Dove Holes 124ao
Tintwsitle win by 80 runs
Dove Holes travelled to Tintwistle on the hottest day of the year so far. Grego lost the toss and tint batted.
The overseas and Davies put a very good partnership of a ton playing sensibly punishing any bad balls they got.
It was only when the spin twins of Carter and Gem came on that dove really got any sort of grip of the game picking up 3 wickets between them. Tint got their way to 200 thanks to the platform set by the openers giving the rest of the team a license. Gilly came back on and picked up 5 when the slog was on.
The chase was an inept batting display. It didn’t start well Gilly first getting hit in the nads and then gloving one on next ball. Baggy and Eddie fell quickly before Grego had a bat out of fell knicking off to the keeper. Setting him up nicely to watch malt loaf at the opera house.
Forder and Chez then put on a bit of a partnership before rose got one to rise on Forder who was caught at point.
A few more quick wickets fell which left the tail trying to muster a batting point. Carter, Crich and Cocker did well to get the score up to 124.
A bad day at the office but still top of the league. We go again next week at home to OG in the league and Hayfield In the cup.
Second Team - Saturday
DCCL Division Two
Dove Holes 106ao v Buxworth 183/8
Buxworth win by 77 runs
On another stunning summers afternoon at the hallstead’s arena dove holes 2s took on buxworth 1s. Skipper Gregory lost the toss and buxworth 1s elected to bat. Opener Green and Burgess bowled well to start with Green picking up two wickets from the bottom end unrooting both openers.
Other opener Burgess bowled very tightly once again however to no avail. After seeing off the buxworth openers dove looked to get on the front foot however a solid partner ship between the buxworth 3rd and 4th batsman put buxworth on top. After a change in the bowling and a spectacular 1 handed catch on the boundary from Stephen green as well as wickets from Johnson and young Roy Vernon meant buxworth had reached 183-8 off all 45 overs.
Dove holes lost wickets regularly and often in their response with Joe Gregory top scoring with 17. The tail kicked slightly with Stephen green wedging a solid 15 to no avail as dove were all out for 110. A bad day at the office for dove after two good wins however next week is a new game as they travel to chapel in a local derby.
Player of the game Stephen Green.
