Readers Division One
Dove Holes 11-0 v New Mills 84ao
Rain Affected Draw
Dove Holes welcomed Pott Shrigley to Hallsteads which was looking in fantastic condition for the 2nd week running. Captain Gregory won the toss and asked Pott to bat first.
Dove started ropey with the ball and Pott looked well set at 40-1, Crich with the first wicket bowling Fletch. The main scoring coming from the visitors oversea who took a liking to Gilbride’s full tosses.
But once Crich took the vital wicket of the oversea - a steepler took by keeper Turner- things turned. Gilly remembered how to pitch the ball and picked up 3 wickets and Carter took numbers 995-998 to take 4 wickets for only 7 runs. Flint picking up the other wicket as Pott Shrigley were all out for 84.
Unfortunately the weather was the winner with Dove getting to 11-0 off 3 overs.
Shout out to Isla who was excellent on her Scorebox debut.
The man of the match sponsored in memory of Aubrey Newton was Dave Cartledge.
Division Two
High Lane 125-9 v Dove Holes 65ao
High Lane win by 60 runs
Captain Gregory won the toss away at High Lane and asked the hosts to bat first. High lanes opening batters put on a watchful before young Roy Vernon ran the aggressive opener out from point.
The High Lane overseas amateur moved the total along whilst skipper Mccarthy dropped anchor. Dove toiled before getting a vital breakthrough and proceeded to tighten the screw with debutant steve green bowling a superb second spell as High lane finished on 125-9 off 45 overs.
Dove were never in the chase as overseas amateur Kelly bowled a devastating spell of 6 for not a lot. The games MOM was Kelly but Green and K Collins represented DHCC respectably.
Thanks to Limetec for there generous sponsorship and it was a pleasure to play away against good set of lads and a club who are trying there best to improve facilities.
