Dove Holes win by 18 runs
Dove hosted Tintwistle on a hot sunny day and luckily for Dove skipper Gregory won the toss and Dove batted first. Dove fell to 14-3 but a 110 run partnership between opener Dan Jones (58) and Jack Gregory (46) helped Dove recover. Lower order hitting from Dave Cartledge (23*) and Dan Waterhouse (25*) along with 30 extras enabled Dove to post 207/7.
There was little relief in the field during the second innings as the sun continued to burn down. The visitors set about the run chase and Dove struggled for wickets. It was the Spinners who made the breakthrough as Dave Cartledge picked up 3 wickets for 45 runs and James Gemmell a tidy 12 overs 1 for 34.
Dove worked hard in the field, two excellent run outs helped keep a lid on the run chase. Openers Dan Waterhouse (2 for 51) and Cory Flint (1 for 53) then returned to the action and the hosts were restricted to 189/9 just 18 runs short.
Division Two
Stalybridge 129ao v Dove Holes 110ao
Stalybridge win by 19 runs
The Second Team travelled to face Stalybridge First Team who won the toss and batted first. Opening bowler bowled 12 overs 2 for 28 as Dove kept the scoring rate down. Change bowlers Paul Scowen (4 for 20) and Ted Johnson (3 for 38) bowled superb as the hosts were all out for 129.
In reply, Dove made steady progress and at 102-5 were favourites to reach the target. Kieran Jones hit 51, Paul Scowen 18 and Rob Hawkes 17 but Dove collapsed to 110 all out, 19 runs short of the target.
