Readers Division One

Dove Holes 295/5 v New Mills 118ao

Dove Holes win by 157 runs


Dove hosted New Mills and were asked to bat by the visitors. Opener Dan Gilbride hit 44, Joe Hall 34 and Shaun Cartledge 30 as Dove set the foundations for a big score. Tom Forder then smashed 60 off 38 balls and Ben Bagshaw 50 not out in a 98 run partnership as Dove posted a huge 295 for 5, boosted by 49 extras.


In reply, DLS was in action for the first time this season and the visitors were set a revised target of 276 from 40 overs. James Gemmell picked up 5 wickets for 27 runs as New Mills were all out for 118 as Dove sealed a 157 run victory.


Division Two

Birch Vale 115ao v Dove Holes 106ao

Birch Vale win by 9 runs


The Second Team travelled to face Birch Vale First Team, the hosts won the toss and elected to bat first.


Dove picked up regular wickets and the hosts were all out for 115, Joe Gregory pick of the bowlers 3 wickets for 23 runs.


In a close reply, Rob Hawkes hit 25 but Dove fell just 9 runs short of the target all out for 106.



SUNDAY

Bissenden Cup Semi Final

Dinting 204/6 v Dove Holes 206/3

Dove Holes win by 7 wickets


Dove travelled to Dinting in the Semi Final of the Bissenden Cup the hosts won the toss and batted first.


Dove picked up a couple of early wickets but a 101 run partnership for the 3rd wicket propelled the hosts to 149-3. The Dove bowlers kept going and 3 wickets from James Gemmell and 2 from Dan Waterhouse saw the hosts finish on 204/6.


In a thrilling reply, the Dove openers put on 59 for the first wicket with Joe Hall scoring 38. Skipper Jack Gregory was in the runs hitting 45 including 3 huge sixes. Dan Gilbride batted sensible keeping momentum in the run chase and hit a fine 68, in a second wicket partnership of 117 runs. Both fell with Dove still needing 20 runs from the last 2 overs.


Tom Forder then smashed 17 from the 38th over which included 2 sixes, and sealed the win with a 4 from the first ball of the final over, Dove reaching the target with 5 balls spare by 7 wickets.


Dove Holes have now reached back to back Bissenden Cup Finals and will play Woodley at New Mills on Sunday 31st July.
