Chairman’s Review - Season 2021

Following this weeks AGM we have now updated our CLUB CONTACTS for the 2022 season. Chairman’s Review - Season 2021

This will be my first review since elected into post, mid way through the season. The 2021 season was the most successful one that Dove Holes Cricket Club has seen in its long history both on and off the field. This has been achieved despite the backdrop of Covid and changes within the committee.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank former committee members for their hard work and support over previous years and also thank the people who have seamlessly stepped into their roles.

Our First Team finished second in Division After losing just two games all season, they also won the Bissenden Cup for the first time since 1975, beating Old Glossop in the final which was hosted at Dove Holes.

Our Second Team won Division Three finishing the season unbeaten winning 15 out of 15. We also won the league’s Twenty20 competition for the first time.

These are all outstanding achievements showing the strength, depth and commitment of the players we now have at the club.

Special congratulations must go to Dan Gilbride, First Team player of the year and to Cory Flint, Second Team player of the year and not forgetting Joe Hall, man of the match in the Bissenden cup final.

There have also been some incredible individual performances and congratulations must go to our Captains who have lead the teams in tremendous style and showed great sportsmanship.

Our playing surface and wickets continue to be a credit to the team who dedicate their time and pride in preparing them each week.

Off the field we have also achieved great success, despite the Covid obstacles.

We have been able to improve our facilities and club profile with our new car park, fencing and relocation of the marquee, this has been achieved through tremendous hard work of several members of the club and also new social members who now play a very active part in improving and maintaining our facilities and operating our bar.

We have been entertained by numerous live bands in our marquee and hosted very successful charity events which saw almost the entire village turn out!

We now have a robust club development plan with numerous projects in place, which we will work towards achieving over the coming years.

For the coming season of 2022 we must ensure we maintain high performance standards both on and off the field; we are now one of the most enviable clubs in the league.
